Snippets in Between - Motion on Set
On two quiet days in Frank Widemann’s studio, we slipped between the flashes. While portraits were being made, we went looking for the movements that usually disappear.
Photo sessions are often remembered as single frames - the hero shot that makes it to the cover or the campaign. But in between the stills, there is a different kind of energy: hands adjusting fabric, a breath before a look lands, the small reset after the shutter. That is where these pieces were found.
Rather than treating video as something separate from the photo shoot, we used the moments already happening in the studio. Between the individual images, we filmed the gestures, pauses, and small movements that gave the session its rhythm. In parallel to the stills, we translated the story Frank wanted to tell into motion - capturing the atmosphere of the set, the interaction with the models, and the energy that lived just outside the frame of the photographs.
For LENI and SOULS, that meant staying close to the process and responding to what was already there. The result is a set of snippets that don’t compete with the images, but sit alongside them. Extending the session into motion and giving the visual story another layer to breathe.
