A Summer Written from the Lake
We returned to Rosewood Schloss Fuschl for a summer campaign at the Seeterrasse and See Club. Working as a duo, we made the films and the full photography campaign, beginning in the kitchen as the terrace's new Italian menu was being developed.

For the films, we kept thinking about what a guest might tell someone at home. A picnic on the water offered a small story to follow. So did sitting down to eat, or trying to describe the lake to someone who wasn't there.
What would you tell someone at home about a day here?
The first days followed the test cooking. We met the chef from Rosewood Rome and joined Julian Schwamberger and the team as they worked on the new culinary concept for the Seeterrasse.
It was useful to be there while the menu was being developed. We could follow the cooking before filming the dishes as a guest would encounter them outside, with the terrace and lake around the table.
That work in the kitchen gave us a starting point for the photographs as well. The campaign needed pictures of the food and of the day it belonged to. We wanted to be able to move between the two without making them feel like separate shoots.

At the See Club, the production continued over several days. We filmed and photographed the terrace and its view, a picnic out on the lake and the food being prepared nearby. The aerials let us show where the See Club sits within the property.
Julian also took us into the kitchen to see the Pinsa and smaller snacks being made. Following that preparation gave us a way to connect the finished food to the people serving it.

The picnic gave us time on the water as well as views back towards the property. The photographs could hold individual moments from that part of the day, while the film followed the experience as it unfolded.

One reel takes the form of a postcard. Someone writes to a person they love at home and describes their stay. The See Club is introduced through what they choose to mention in the message.
We liked the directness of that idea. A postcard has a person on the other end, and it gives the images a reason to follow one another.
Alongside those films, we were making the full set of campaign photographs. Working together as a duo meant we could keep the same point of view while giving each format its own time. Photography was a substantial part of the days on site.

The second reel begins with an unanswered call to a mother. The message left behind tells her about the stay and looks forward to sharing it with her. It gives another film a different voice, while staying with the same idea of telling someone where you are.
Our relationship with Fuschl began before the hotel opened. Coming back for the summer meant working with a place already full of guests and daily routines.

We could spend the days following what was happening there, with enough time to make both films and photographs.
